Fabric Drapes
The fabric you choose for your custom curtains makes such an impact on the resulting style and room atmosphere. You can buy pretty curtains just about anywhere. But, if you’re serious about blackout curtains or thermal drapes that control the light, privacy and temperature of your home, the custom drapery fabric is important–while also looking beautiful. We have access to thousands of fabrics in velvets, silks, jacquard and linen. In addition to that, knowing which combinations of fabrics will pair with the proper liner is something your window covering designer specializes in.

The Details of Drapes
It’s the finishing details of your custom draperies that can make all the difference. From the drapery hardware you choose, to the header styles you select, the top of the window is where the customization of drapes really plays out.
Drapery Hardware
The drapery hardware you select will coordinate with other elements in the same space, for dynamic style. We offer a range of metallic finishes to tie in the design elements you have in your home already.
- Matte Black
- Oil-rubbed Bronze
- Natural Brass
- Brushed Nickel
Not only will your drapery rod selection come in a specialty finish, but the accompanying drapery hardware will be included to dress your windows and hang your curtains properly. This could include curtain tie backs, curtain rings and drapery clips, depending on the type of header style you choose for your custom window treatments.
The Top of the Curtain
There are a number of ways to turn the top portion of your draperies into a personalized look you love. If you have any inspiration you’ve seen, feel free to share it so we can put together a look for your home. The way the fabric is sewn at the top of drapes is called the header style, and there are a few very popular choices that will set your home apart.
- Pinch Pleat Drapes have folds of fabrics pinched together and sewn, creating multiple folds. Pinch pleated drapes are sophisticated and elegant, attached to the drapery rod with clips and drapery rings. They also may feature backtabs that the curtain rod slides through.
- Grommet Style features metals grommets, or rings, affixed to the drapery fabric. The grommet, or metal ring, slides over the rod. This style is widely loved, easy to use and can range in style from casual to formal.
- Ripplefold Drapes offer consistent, rounded curves at the top of the drapery, commonly traversing sideways along a track on a specialty drapery rod. These look similar to our Luminette sheer drapes.

Layering Shades and Curtains
One of the most sought-after statements in custom window treatments is the layering look. Draperies are layered at the window with shades, blinds or shutters as the base window treatment. Like a gorgeous outfit, layering blinds with curtains adds dimension and visual interest while serving to provide functional benefits, such as added light control, comfortable temperatures and complete privacy. Mix and match fabric patterns and prints with the help of a designer for just the right look.
