Dual Shades Transform the Home

Imagine the light in your home changing throughout the day, based on your lifestyle. When you need soft light, you have it. If you want to block out the light, you can. That’s the refreshing beauty of dual shades with Hunter Douglas Duolite®.

  • Two Shades, One Headrail
  • Light Filtering with One
  • Room Darkening with the Other

The Duolite system is named for its dual lighting, but it goes way beyond just two functions. Open the shades completely for the natural look–they’ll roll into the same shared headrail. Drop down the light filtering portion for ambient lighting. Or, bring the secondary portion down for room darkening–even blackout. With a variety of window covering products available–like dual roller shades, sheers, romans, honeycombs & more–you can select the window coverings that work best for you. There’s even woven woods with a secondary cellular shade that blocks our intense Reno area sunshine.

Two Honeycomb Shades In One

It’s a dual shades system that’s available only for our Hunter Douglas cellular shades. Two different shades, with two very different opacities, are joined together in the middle. They can be used one at a time–extending the entire top portion of the shade over the window, or extending the entire bottom shade over the whole window. You can take advantage of light-filtering or room darkening. For a balance of both, adjust some of the top portion and some of the bottom portion–covering the window fully. You can change experience varying levels of light control, but you’ll always have the protection of the energy efficient honeycomb structure.

Blackout Roller Shade

Commonly used to provide the dual shade feature, this option of Duolite offers a front, light-filtering shade with a secondary blackout roller shade. Sharing the same headrail, the shades can disappear up above the window, leaving the view unobstructed. The dual roller shade operates independently of the front light-filtering shade. Enjoy soft light, with the beautiful room-facing shade lowered into position. Then, begin to lower the blackout roller shade down. It can be adjusted all along the way, blocking light right where you need it to be–even fully lowered for complete light blocking.

Secondary Honeycomb Shade

Our Hunter Douglas Provenance Woven Wood Shades are known as one of our most sought-after window shade collections. The natural fibers provide stunning texture. Those fibers also filter natural light for a beautiful atmosphere. But, when you want to block the light and heat at the window, you need a different solution. Introducing the dual shades feature for Woven Woods, you’ll still enjoy the gorgeous scene at the window, but a secondary honeycomb shade can be lowered into place for incredible energy efficiency and light blocking control.
